A partner with Roland Stock (formerly Roland & Schlegel), S. Whitney Rahman concentrates her practice in labor and employment law matters. She counsels and represents employers in all facets of labor and employment law, including anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, employer best practices, collective bargaining, wage and hour issues, wrongful discharge and Family and Medical Leave Act issues. She has represented employers in federal and state courts, before federal and state administrative agencies and in alternative dispute resolution settings.

Ms. Rahman’s capabilities also include handling all aspects of civil rights housing issues for public housing agencies. Of particular note, Ms. Rahman recently secured a favorable settlement with the United States Department of Justice on behalf of a client facing allegations of discrimination in connection with public housing. The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) contended that Ms. Rahman’s client had violated several anti-discrimination laws and sought a conciliation agreement that would have required extremely costly reconfigurations of housing units. Ms. Rahman was involved in negotiating for a more reasonable result, saving her client millions of dollars.

Ms. Rahman is active within numerous professional organizations. She is Vice Chairperson of the Berks County Bar Association Labor & Employment Committee, and Legislative Chair of the Society for Human Resource Management, Berks County Affiliate. She previously served as President of the Society for Human Resource Management, Berks County Affiliate.  A member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys, Ms. Rahman also sits on the Editorial Board of the Journal of College and University Law. She was a long-time den leader for the Cub Scouts of America, Pack 422, Bernville, PA, and is a member of the Berks County Equine Council.

A sought-after speaker and author on employment issues and civil rights matters, Ms. Rahman has spoken for such groups as the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the Greater Berks County Chamber of Commerce, the Lorman Business Institute, the Council on Education and Management and the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials. Ms. Rahman has also served as an adjunct instructor for Pennsylvania State University's paralegal certification program, teaching employment law and civil procedure. She is licensed to practice in New York and Pennsylvania, and before U.S. District Court for the Eastern, Western and Middle District and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Ms. Rahman is a 1989 graduate of Columbia University School of Law, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and a member of the Columbia Law Review editorial staff. She graduated summa cum laude from Moravian College in 1980 with a double major in History and Criminal Justice. Ms. Rahman is a resident of Bernville, PA.
